Customs Brokerage Documentation/File Clerk (NVOCC, Freight Forwarding)

Serving as an integral member of the Brokerage team, a successful candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work to meet deadlines. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written as well as the ability to interface with all levels of personnel professionally and effectively. Candidates must possess the ability to be punctual, reliable, display strong attention to detail, and able to handle pressure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Classifies, stores, retrieves, and updates generated information by performing the following duties.
  • Reads incoming material, verifies accuracy, and sorts and codes according to file system.
  • Stores material in paper form, or enters information into FreightStream with appropriate file number, brief information, voyage information and shipment date.
  • Maintains computer database. Retrieves materials for qualified personnel upon request.
  • Searches for and investigates information contained in files, inserts additional data on file records, completes reports, and keeps files current.
  • Keeps track of borrowed materials and ensures they are returned.
  • Disposes of obsolete files in accordance with established retirement schedule or legal requirements.
  • Scans materials or copies records, and examines materials for legibility.
  • Types labels or reports.
  • Handles data entry and documentation.
  • Manage daily tracing report.
  • Implements changes to the filing system when directed to do so.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or two years of experience as an entry writer. Proficiency with the General Rules of Interpretation, HTSUSA, and binding rulings. Proficiency with valuation and classification from commercial documentation.

After completing a standard 90 day probationary period the employee is granted a full benefits package.
